The name of this electoral district refers to Constant Le Marchand de Lignery, a military officer who arrived in Canada in 1687 and after whom the city of Saint-Constant is named. It refers as well to Jacques Le Marchand de Lignery, pastor of the parish of Laprairie from 1731 to 1775. Saint-Constant and Laprairie are the main urban centres in this electoral district.
