Welcome to the website of the 2012 Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Quebec.
The redistribution of federal electoral districts sets up the ridings in all of the provinces.
This exercise takes place every 10 years, after the most recent census results are known.
Commissions carefully examine the demographic changes since the last redistribution and propose new electoral boundaries in order to provide a more balanced representation of people and communities in Parliament.
As Chair of the Quebec Commission, I and the two other members, Mr. Michel Doyon and Dr. Raymond Hudon, will be minutely analyzing the data and other factors likely to provide fair representation to all citizens, taking into consideration not only voter equality but also regional and community characteristics (ethnic, linguistic, social, economic and geographic).
In order to gather your observations and opinions, we will be holding public hearings at suitable locations across the province.
To that end, we will first prepare a proposal describing the projected new boundaries and share it with you in newspapers and on this site.
The more observations and suggestions we receive, the better our redistricting proposal will be.
